As I walk I walk in beauty, the universe walks with me,
In beauty it walks before me, in beauty it walks behind;
In beauty it walks above me, in beauty it walks beside me,
Beauty is all around me as I walk, I walk in beauty.

As I breathe I breathe in beauty, the universe breathes with me,
In beauty it breathes before me, in beauty it breathes behind;
In beauty it breathes above me, in beauty it breathes beside me,
Beauty is all around me as I breathe, I breathe in beauty.

Stanzas continue and can be modified to reflect the occasion:

Sing
Live
Dance
Pray, etc.

TAKE THE ONE SEAT

Sometimes I feel like I been thinking way too much
And the chatter in my brain gets way too loud.
Sometimes I feel like I been worried way too long,
And the fog around my head like a wayward cloud.

What we really don’t need here is just more greed hate and fear
Can’t you see everything you do has got a voice,
So that only leaves one thing, close your mouth, sit down and breathe
Take the one seat take your heart into your hands.

Sometimes I feel like I been runnin way too far
And the circles just keep goin round and round.
Sometimes I feel like I been talking way too loud,
When the words don’t really matter anyhow.

What we really don’t need here is just more greed hate and fear
Like that stuff spewin out your t.v. screen
The message to be had is your reflection in the glass
Take the one seat take your heart into your hands.

Sometimes I feel like I been fighting way too hard
Don’t you see that you really do have another choice.
Sometimes I feel like I been searching way too long
When really what I seek is sitting here.

What we really don’t need here is just more greed hate and fear
You can hear that trinity everywhere you go
Everybody come take five grab a pillow close your eyes
Take the one seat take your heart into your hands.

Clarity

From clarity I hear, once you take a look at fear,
Inside out becomes the right side up.
The lesson in the rain, Is that it falls on everything,
All roads,
All roads take you home.

Every now and every then
Every stumble is still Zen,
Each one plays a part upon my stage.
Oh From clarity to here,
All my thoughts will disappear,
and you can find me with my breath in the hear and now.

From a misty morning pier,
I can see a brand new sphere
Gently wipe away the tangled views.
A chance to see again through the eyes of a long lost friend.
Good and bad, are really in your head.

Every this and every that
Every excess, every lack,
Each one plays a part upon my soul,
Oh from clarity to here, all my roles will disappear,
And you can find me with my breath in the here and now.

Instrumental

Every now and every then
Every stumble is still Zen,
Each one plays a part upon my stage.
Oh From clarity to here,
All my thoughts will disappear,
and you can find me with my breath in the hear and now.

Here and now
Here and now.

HOLY GROUND

I see faces, all around
Smiling faces, all around

I feel the lights wrap me up in their arms,
At the end is where we make a new start;
You know that right here where we are,
Is Holy ground.

I hear laughter, all around
I see dancers, all around

I feel the music through the palm of my hand,
Like my toes in the heat of the sand;
You know that right here where we dance,
Is Holy ground.

Instrumental

I hear silence, all around
Slow motion, all around

Welcome home from the dream that is thought,
Open arms on a mountain top;
You know that right here where we stopped,
Is Holy ground

CHIDANANDA ROOPAH
(The song of self)
By Adi Shankara

I am not my mind, nor am I intellect,
I’m not my ego, nor reflections of inner self
I’m not the five senses.
You know I’m way beyond that.
I am not the ethers, nor the wind or fire or rain,

I am the one
That eternal knowing and bliss,
Some call me Shiva, and some pure consciousness.

Chidananda Roopah (chant 4 times or more)

You can’t call me energy, nor am I the five types of breath,
I’m no pancha-kosha, nor the seven essences,
I’m not your liberation; I have no duty to do,
I ain’t got any money, and I’m sure not a guru.

I am the one
That eternal knowing and bliss,
Some call me Shiva, and some pure consciousness.

Chidananda Roopah (chant 4 times or more)

You know I got no hatred; I got no likes or dislikes,
I got no self delusion, no haughtiness and no pride,
I got no desires, no feelings of jealousy,
No happiness or sorrow, only peace and tranquility.

I am the one
That eternal knowing and bliss,
Some call me Shiva, and some pure consciousness.

Chidananda Roopah (chant 4 times or more)

I have no fear of dying, cause you know I never been born,
I got no discrimination based on where you were born or why,
I got no mom or dad or brothers or sisters, no relatives to relate to,
No friends or disciples, to my own self always be true.

I am the one
That eternal knowing and bliss,
Some call me Shiva, and some pure consciousness.

Chidananda Roopah (chant 4 times or more)

SONG AND A SMILE

There’s a little place I’m gonna sing about
where we meet every Sunday and we’re never without,
Your always gonna find a song and a smile
peace of mind for you, for me for a while.

This is where I learned about loving kindness
first for yourself then all of your friends,
then for the world, the universe the song goes on,
it never ends.

Here you’ll find a light in the darkest night
it burns so bright because it comes from inside,
don’t bother knocking just walk on in,
bring all of your worries, regrets or sins.

(bridge)
There stands before you an open door that no one can ever close,
Take off your socks and shoes, your opinions and views,
And hand in hand we’ll walk, right on through.

There’s not really much more that I can say
you know sometimes words they just don’t cut the cake,
all I can say is that I hope some day
you’ll stop by for a while, for that song and a smile.

AND THEY WAIT TO AWAKEN

Some who are hurting and watching the rain
Drinking only from glasses of fear and of pain,
Write their own music on miniature brains
with no one else playing along.

And they sing, beautiful songs.

Those who lie sick in a dimly lit room
With few there to care for their hearts or their wounds,
They may close their eyes so they can’t see the scars
But that’s when they see best of all.

And they paint, beautiful pictures.

Those who know hunger and long sleepless nights
With a tether to poverty sickness and plight,
Still through the darkness I hear someone say,
my light sees the same light in you.

And they write, beautiful stories.

Some who are homeless wrapped up in the street
With seldom heard laughter like wings for their feet,
You might find them waltzing on any ol’ lane
To the sound of a cold iron drain.

And they dance, beautifully.

Some who are lost sit in Washington seats
Pass notions of government with bucks and a wink,
They carry their papers written all in red ink
Or maybe that’s not ink at all.
And they wait, wait to awaken.

SHADOW SIDE

There’s a movie goin on deep behind these grey blue eyes,
A film where the cuts run long as they run red;

The shadow side of you will take wisdom from your wounds,
There really is a bright side, to the dark.

First Chorus
And everything I’m not, has made me everything I am,
The best way to see the dark is through the light.
Shadow side.

Personality noir, I know just who you are,
Desire is the fuel that runs your engines red;

Throw away your fantasies, step back and roll up your sleeves,
Here’s a chance for you to see through the eyes of the divine.

Second Chorus
Everything I’m not, has made me everything I am;
Bring together both the light and the dark,
Shadow side.

First Chorus
And everything I’m not, has made me everything I am,
The best way to see the dark is through the light.
Shadow side.

HAD A LITTLE THOUGHT

I had a little thought, and it led to another,
And while I was thinking it, I forgot about my brother;
Well sitting right here, sharing my air, sharing my music,
You can find him everywhere.

Chorus
So take another breath,
Take another look,
Take another moment
Can you feel the truth;

Give another smile,
Give another flower,
Give another chance,
Baby you can feel the power;

I had a little thought, but this one was a trickster,
Cuz while I was thinking it, I forgot my sister,
Ooh, she’s sitting right here, sharing my air, sharing my music
You can find her everywhere.

Chorus

Instrumental

I had a little thought, but I let this one go by,
And there in the stillness, I found you and I,
We’re sitting right here, sharing our air, sharing our music,
You can find us everywhere.

Chorus

May the light of your heart shine in gladness,
May it shine for all those you hold dear;
and may the light from above lift you up,
and carry you through your fear.

May the light of your heart shine in glory,
May the quiet your mind ever renew;
and may the spirit of life be your reverence,
and illumine all that you do.

May the light of your heart shine in blessing,
May you open to all who appear;
and may the light show a way through your dark,
so the path to tomorrow is clear.

And may the light show a way through your night,
so the path to tomorrow is clear.

JOIN ME ON THE FRINGE

Far beyond the pale, some people say,
Stayin out late just tempting the fates, some people say;
But when you listen to our songs,
Or the stories we tell;
You’ll find were not different my friend from your coins in the wishin well.

Chorus:
Join me on the fringe,
Hanging by a thread,
Out on a limb, at my wits end,
I’ll be on the fringe

Little left of center, some people say;
Don’t paint by no numbers, I’d really rather play;
Don’t have a dime, no reason or rhyme;
You might think it’s a waste,
But my friend the time we spend is all face to face!

Chorus

Bridge: All that it really takes is a single leap of any faith,
Turn your passion into pathways lover and I’ll be there by your side,
and join you on the Fringe

Solo

Throwin care to the wind, some people say,
Don’t pay them no mind just flyin blind, some people say;
But when we’re dancing in the rain, swaying side to side,
You’ll find your heart knows the steps, my friend,
if you can get around the thoughts in your mind.
(Chorus)

REVIVE
by Victor James Dougherty
2015 Unity Temple Capital Campaign

I come here on days like this,
cuz this is where I find my bliss.
More than just walls, I see my story walking the halls,
every door is open, once I was broken,
now I know I'm where I ought to be.

(Chorus)
Let Love revive,
it all starts with a smile,
breathe in new life,
hand in hand, eye to eye
from ceiling to sidewalk I know,
we will Revive.

Ask me where there's harmony,
cuz that is where you'll likely find me.
More than just songs, I hear my spirit singing along,
every hand is open, we are all whole then,
and every hearts where it ought to be.

(chorus)
Let Love revive,
it all starts with a smile,
breathe in new life,
hand in hand, eye to eye
from ceiling to sidewalk I know,
we will Revive.

We will revive
we will revive
I know you feel the same
we will revive
like a flower in the rain
we will revive
like a phoenix from the flame
we will revive we will revive
we will revive!

LET IT GO, LET IT FLY

Turning up the dials on my dashboard radio, someone cuts me off and I react,
I go on the attack and my world gets very small, til a song upon the radio
brings me back.

Chorus:
let it go, let it go and let it fly
let it go like a bird across the sky,
let the truth inside your heart give it wings on either side,
let it go let it go let it fly.

My neighbor comes home late, and he cranks his stereo, I can feel the anger welling up inside, my hands turn into fists and my world gets very small, but a sign upon the wall has caught my eye.

Chorus

Bridge:
everything and everyone
all the ways we're holding on
all the pain that we shut in
keeps us from our joy within,
and the love throughout

instrumental

A simple phone call turns into a 30 min. wait, computer voices never seem to care, in a rage I slam the phone and my world gets very small, but a friend reminds me with a word or three.

Chorus

let it go give it love let it fly.

for you'll never know
til you let it go
that you can fly.

EVERY DAY I WALK ALONG THE PATH

Every single book is held by hands that know the light,
a crystal mountain stream quenches every thirst;
loving mothers arms answer every single baby's cry,
and everyday I walk along the path.

(CHORUS)
Every heartache opens up my weary wayward eyes,
and every question leads right back to me;
and I know too like each of you, that all things come to pass,
and everyday we walk along the path.

Every smile becomes a laugh, with pearls that shine bright white,
and every bed is clean like the breeze at night,
and every wounded heart of hearts, loves every tortured soul,
and every day I walk along the path.

chorus

Every voice will find a song to sing up to the sky,
and every cloud's a dream in a child's eye,
and every war torn soldier finds peace or peace of mind,
and every day I walk along the path.

chorus
